Two different jacks on computer 1 audio and 1 microphone

I have two different jacks. 1 for audio and 1 for a microphone on the front panel. When I plug my headphone into the audio jack, i can hear, but the other side cant hear me. vice versa w/ the microphone jack, I can speak but i cant hear the other side. I really need help I've been looking everywhere but i can't find anything. Thank you!

Plug the headphones into the audio jack and the microphone into the mic jack... not one or the other. The way you worded your post seems like you haven't tried using both of the ports at the same time.
