The TV itself works just fine. It also works fine when connected to general boxes (Satelite and DvD). The TV however does not have a direct hdmi to hdmi port, removing the most simple solution to its problems.

The problem: Attempting to set up an older model PT53WX53G projector HDTV at the families house for streaming and have run into a few issues. The first issue is, it does not seem to recognize hdmi-to-rca cables when plugged directly into the computer, also attempted doing a direct connection with a dvi cable to see if it would recognize that. No luck there either.

If anyone has had a successful experience getting one of these model televisions connected to their PC, would be appreciated if they could walk me through how as standard plug and play seems to not be an option with this older model television.

What knd of HDMI to RCA adapter are you using? Have you tried it with something else.

'' recognize hdmi-to-rca cables '' it may not support that for video

you may need to use a dvi to hdmi or hdmi to hdmi -- I prefer dvi [card] to hdmi [tv] due to hdmi to hdmi can be flakey

seems all that should be in the tv 'v manual on what it accepts for the pc inputs and if it supports pc timings ?

Standard cable here HDMI (PC) to RCA (TV). The TV itself has no HDMI slot, otherwise this would be done and over with so it is having to be done via cables. - This is the exact cable type http://www.braindeadprojects.com/blog/wp-content/hdmi-rca.jpg being used. Attempted a dvi cable as well, it has the slots for it but does not seem to recognize the PC on the other end.

The tv itself does not have an HDMI port as mentioned in the initial post, it has vga and dvi slots available. If it was outright hdmi capable this thread would not be here. Have looked over the manual a few times and have not found anything remotely enlightening.

Looking online I cant find a single cable that will convert HDMI to RCA without some sort of converter box. If you could give me a link to the actual product you bought rather than a picture that would be super helpful.
Can you post computer specs, DOES THE DVI or VGA work into a monitor?

This is the exact model of chord. http://www.cellphonecases.com/5ft-Hdmi-To-3-Rca-Video-Component-Cable.html?utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=productads&gclid=Cj0KEQjwzPSrBRC_oOXfxPWP6t0BEiQARqav2GcQhy1l5fS0U53sEAT0cdUluEMRdo5LZXHHKYlBbPkaAplM8P8HAQ

The computer itself is a modified Lenovo H405 with the following specifications - Athlon II X2 260 3.2 GHz - 8 GB RAM - 500 GB HDD - 1gb Radeon HD 7350 (The joys of low profile video cards) - Windows 8.1 Professional.

Have absolutely attempted using the VGA and DVI ports to no success. Wouldn't be at all surprised if this television requires a converter box to be useable due to its age.

That is the exact same cable with better insulation on the connection wires, zero difference outside of that. Not seeing anything port wise, no unknown device, ect when the monitor is plugged in. Monitor itself is perfectly functional.

most tv' have pc listed separately in the specs as I said yours don't list any thing about pc or using a pc on it -- when you choose a hdtv for a pc monitor you have to look closely some TV's work great some not so good some not at all ...

like here on mine see how it supports pc timings

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/317883/Sceptre-E325bv-Hd.html?page=48#manual

pc use with vga input

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/317883/Sceptre-E325bv-Hd.html?page=20#manual

pc settings in the tv menu

http://www.manualslib.com/manual/317883/Sceptre-E325bv-Hd.html?page=25#manual

see #8 '' This port also can accept a HDCP video device for video

I just feel your tv is not going to support pc -- cause nothing for it states it will

good luck
