upgrade laptop from i5-3337U to i5-3380M possible? and is worth it?

I run a Asus laptop for the purpose of botting in world of Warcraft with honorbuddy 24 hours, cos my full size overclocked desktop eats up my energy bill crazy.

it runs a i5-3337u it's only 1.8ghz turbo 2.7, even with the game running in the background and background fps set to max 8 fps the cpu is still going on @1.9-2.5ghz constantly with temperature average of 65c when it's at background/minimized. goes to 70c if I bring game to the front @30fps cap.(it's a cpu demanding game) although 99% the time the game runs at background. with monitor off


now im just thinking since running the game will need CPU to be always running turbo boost, what if I change it to i5-3380m with a whopping 2.9ghz clock speed? will it make the cpu run cooler so the fan no need to spin so hard? or will it make no difference.

on top of that some sites say that the i5-3337U is NOT upgradeable. I mean wtf does it mean the cpu is welded to the board cannot be removed? base on intel website it has a FCBGA1023 socket.
but he 3380M comes with both FCBGA1023 and FCPGA988 socket. the one im looking at this one

so my question is first.
1. is it possible to even change the CPU, I asked the seller he doesn't know what socket it is.
2. with higher clock cpu will it run cooler than 3337U
3. will it have any impact on power supply of the laptop because the 3380m uses much more power, if the laptop was originally built for 3337u, for example overheating of the AC adapter because not enough AMPs or problem with montherboard ?

First, what is your motherboard brand and model#?
Second, because you have it overclocked you won't see a performance difference but you should see a temperature difference.
Third, there are several names for your socket type yours is more commonly know as socket LGA-1366.
Fourth, because of your socket type you could potentially upgrade to a much better CPU, but that depends on what your motherboard will support.
Fifth, it shouldn't cause a problem with the power supply.

I would recommend finding exactly what your motherboard is and what CPU's it will support and then get the best available or the best that you can afford.

hey man thanks for reply but the whole thing im talking about is the laptop, not the desktop. I want to use laptop for botting cos desktop uses too much electricity, but I just found that the U series CPU are smaller BGA while M cpus are bigger PGA.

That's the same socket but the CPU isn't much of an upgrade and may not even be compatible with your motherboard.

Xeon X5690 (6 cores, 3.47 GHz), Core i7-970 (6 cores, 3.2 GHz), these will both fit in the socket but you probably need to update the BIOS and even then without knowing what your motherboard is I don't know if they would work.

To find out what your motherboard is without opening the computer up you can download a program like "Belarc Advisor" and it will tell you exactly what is inside your computer.
