Used mobile workstation or new laptop?

Hi all. I am thinking of changing my old laptop and my budget is about 600$. I am currently interested in following offers:
HP Pavilion 15-n278tx:
Core i5-4200U - Nvidia 840M 2GB DDR3 - Display 15.6" 1366 x 768 - RAM 4GB DDR3L.
Dell Pricesion M6600:
Core i7-2960XM - ATI FirePro M8900 2GB - Display 17.3" 1920 x 1080 - RAM 8GB DDR3.
M6600 is used but is in great condition and I can get it for 600$. My main purpose is modeling in Maya and Gaming. I am interested in M6600 but i don't know how well does FirePro perform in games. Please help me decide. Thanks.

From notebookcheck, it seems that the amd is very good at handling games. I would go with this option. But beware, it depends on what games you are talking about.

The Dell would be better for Maya with the Firepro and can still game with it, make sure everything works well as it's used 😉
