I am having problems fixing my mother's VAIO laptop.
The original hard drive has finally died. I bought a new one and fitted it in.

Now I can't get either USB or DVD to boot in order to install win10 on the new drive.

My brother knows how to do this but won't tell me. He's in that rebellious stage. He installed windows7 in Chinese just to spite me! :) I can see he didn't change the BIOS settings.

I know Sony VAIO laptops have some weird way to start the boot menu - I tried all sorts of combinations (Assist + F11, Assits + Del, Assist + Esc). I just can't get to the boot menu...

Please reveal this secret to me :)

Have you tried to hit F2? It should take you to the bios and you should be able to go to the boot order menu and set...

Have you tried to hit F2? It should take you to the bios and you should be able to go to the boot order menu and set if you want to boot off usb first or dvd first.
