Hello:

Some time back, I posted a question regarding Verizon cel-phone coverage in
Sharon, MA.
Particularly how bad it was.

Have to renew my service plan with Verizon, and coverage down here in Sharon
is pretty important.

One of the replies I received was the following:

"They just built a cellphone tower at Sharon Country Club. Sprint is the
only carrier currently active on it. Verizon is in negotiations. Other
than that Sharon is known as a pretty dead zone for most carriers... "

Was wondering if anyone had any new information on this, or whether I have
to really consider going with Sprint now ?

Not to thrilled with the thought of changing to Sprint, but will consider,
if
I really have to.

Guess I should ask about my "prejudice" regarding Sprint:

How are they in the overall metro Boston area ?
Any opinions would be most appreciated.

Much thanks,
Bob

Don't know specifics about Sharon, but regarding your Sprint
prejudice... I have had Verizon and most of my friends have had Sprint
in the Boston area for the past 5 years.

Back in 2000, Verizon was the best service, and Sprint was horrible
(dead spots, couldn't call downtown on Friday nights, 30 minute CS
waits, etc.)

Since then, Verizon's service has degraded slightly downtown, mostly
due to congestion when a flood of new customers signed onto AC in 2002.
Their CS is also no longer 24 hours.

Sprint has improved dramatically on all fronts, and most of my friends
have gone from hating their service to being slightly satisfied.

That said, I think Verizon is still a better service in Boston, but not
better enough to give up coverage in your house if Sprint offers it.
