Solved! Viewsonic 27 inch flat screen turning self off

I have a flat screen Viewsonic. The screen itself is 27 1/2 inches wide. Whether it is connected to cable or not, it turns itself off, then on again after a few minutes, then off, etc.. Please help!

I had the same problem with my viewsonic 27 inch tv.
I suspected it was the micro switch under the on off button so I got into the back of the tv and down to the circuit board at the switch it turns out that the circuit board was fastend down to tight causing intermittant continuity to the switch so by loosining the circuit board I resolved the problem.
