Hi everyone, I just bought a 6 year old ROG asus laptop. Its been upgraded with six gigs of RAM and a new"ish" nvidia GPU. My only problem is it has a Intel mobile core 2 duo P8700. My question is, can I upgrade this? Ive done some poking around, and I know it has to be compatible with my motherboard(?) My motherboard is ASUSTeK Computer INC G72GX, if that helps. I am want to upgrade to intel i5 or i7 if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks!

So I can't upgrade to a better cpu at all?

Thanks for the info! I will definitely look into this.

hey, you seam to have knolage in this area.i got a notebook hp - 15-ay022np and i wana upgrade my cpu as well, what is this laptop compatibility and can you tell me your opinion for the best processor i can put in it for gaming without damage any of the pc performance.

but how can i know if it is soldred? i saw peaple doing it to similar laptops from HP, And on HP site they say the you can upgrade it but first you need to check your compatibility.
but i cant find my motherboard especs anywere...

because the cpu specs says "bga" not "pga". bga means the cpu is soldered to the motherboard wereas pga mean the cpu has pins on the bottom of it that fits into a socket.
