Watch One Program, Record Another.

I have a Tivo hooked up to a TV with a cable box. I hear that with Tivo, you
can watch one
program while recording another. My TV is VERY new (LDC HD with many
hookups) and
with Tivo I can say, record HBO on my cable box while watching through my TV
output. That
means that while HBO is being recorded, I can watch all of my ANALOG
stations, and not
my digital stations that come through my cable box. Is there some way to get
Tivo to
record HBO while letting me watch Cinemax or something like that?

Wes is right, the only way to watch two digital programs simultaneously is
to have 2 digital converters.

However, you can watch a movie that was recorded off Cinemax previously
while your TiVo records something new off HBO.... ;)

Never had cable or sat but a wag would be to get a second cable box and
hook it straight to the tv via a second TV input.

Comcast cable? Get the Comcast DVR, record and watch another cable channel at the same time.

You screwed up. That shiny new HD TV will not work with Cable + Tivo.

Comcast developers will be helping Tivo fix this and other problems
with the archaic stand alone Tivo but it won't be available for a few
years. There's lots of work to do to get Tivo up to the level of the
Comcast DVR.

Until then, you should get the Comcast DVR. It has 2 tuners so you can
do what you requested as well as HD and full Dolby 5.1 sound.

Sean, really, you need something else. This is just stupid since it
is blatantly incorrect. Comcast developers? 1. Comcast didn't
develop their current DVR either. 2. Comcast is *paying TiVo* to do
the work with TiVo developers.

And Comcast and TiVo are saying mid-to-late 2006 for deployment, not
'a few years'.

C'mon, you're a better troll, be creative. You're just phoning it in
now. Don't you have any trollish pride in your work?

Sean doesn't realize it takes time to port software that was created for
certain hardware to completely different hardware. Sean's beloved Comcast
realizes it's worth the wait and money for superior Tivo software.

rumpswab society".

Yes. Very true. Being right all the time is a heavy burden to carry.
