Well..., I've found out the hard way.
Never, never, ever buy anything with the Westinghouse brand name on it!
I bought an inexpensive LCD HD TV...., my first one when my old TV died, and after six months, the HDMI port quit working and the sound had deterieorated to the point that it could hardly be heard.
It's a long sad story, but I wound up taking it to one of only two repair facilities they have within driving distance of Chicago, and they have to order parts and have told me it'll be at least a month or longer before they can get them.
The repair place suggested I call their customer support line back and see about getting a replacement instead.
I've found that the Westinghouse name, which now appears to be owned by some Korean comglomerate, has what has to be the worst customer support and service department in the world!
As I said, it's a long story, but they seem to have absolutely no interest in their customers once the money has changed hands. It's going to be many weeks, perhaps months before I ever see my TV again, (if at all), and they don't seem as if they could care any less about it!
I've learned my lesson. I'm going to find the name of that conglomerate and make sure I never buy anything from them again, and I'm going to spread that word as far and wide as I can.
Go ahead and buy from them if you want, but you better hope you never need any help or service from them!
What a long fall for one of the earliest and most well known names in the consumer electronics industry!
