Which camera should I get?!

hello!

I am an action sports videographer and I also do stills sometimes. I'm looking to upgrade from just using a bunch of go pro hero 3's to a good Canon. I'm leaning towards the Canon T4i or 7D. I'll probably just going to get a used or refurbished one and a couple lenses. What camera would you recommend?
What camera, maybe even neither Canon's, do you think would be best around the same price for filming/capturing extreme sports?

Kay for the love of god don't ever comment on a photography related topic again unless the person is talking about happy snappy photos...

Canon 7D or Nikon D700 are my recommendations (anything else and I wouldn't recommend the D700 as I have my favourites and the D800 is mine but for sports there is no denying it's capabilities)

As for 7D vs D700 - clear win go Canon (this coming from a guy who shoot Nikon)

Hi Cassy - neither of the Canons shoots 1080/60p for smooth action or slow motion. I would get a Panasonic G6 with the 14-42 kit lens ($638 new at Amazon right now).

The G6 is sharper than any Canon DSLR, and has these features that the T4i and 7D lack:

1) built-in wi-fi and NFC for wireless file sharing and remote control from your phone or tablet
2) a viewfinder that actually continues to work in video mode (DSLR viewfinders blank out when they shoot video)
3) fast continuous autofocus
4) "focus peaking" for easy manual focus
5) a lossless extended tele converter (ETC) for a built in 2.7x optical zoom extension - used in the example video above

For sports photography? NO WAY! Maybe in a few years mirrorless will be able to keep up with a dedicated phase detection system, but for now it's not even comparable to the 7D which is almost 5 years old!
