Which RAM should I purchase for Asus R558UQ-DM513D? (8gb VS 4gb)

Asking this as I am worried about Dual channel architecture. One of my friend pointed out that 8gb wouldn't work in cohesion with the existing 4gb RAM. Is it true?

You should *first* insure that your motherboard supports the specific memory that you choose.

But dual channel does *not* really add much overall performance and adding a single 8GB to an existing 4GB will give you a useful 12GB if you have a 64bit OS and the memory is compatible.

In other words, your friend is incorrect.
