Why do i receive a card error from my new sdhc memory card??

i just bought a new sdhc 4gb memory card. My camera is fujifilm finepix f47 fd. I have insert the card in it and im getting an error message saying "card error"why is that??

The SD card must be formatted before it can be used. You should be able to format using the settings in your camera.

i have the same problem...
also when i tried to format it with my camera is says "Error" and wont let me format it

Guard yourself against fake cards; quite a few floating around.
