Hi everyone I noticed some days ago that a craking/scratching sound is coming from my laptop power supply. I had no idea what makes this sound until I moved the PSU and I heard that it's coming from it. Also it is very hot. I don't know if it's normal but my laptop is 4 years old and the battery already failed just like a lot of components so I wouldn't be surprised if it fails soon. Is there a PSU failure or something like that? And if it's some kind of failure then what can I do? Because I surely won't find another for my laptop model.
The sound is exactly like sratching and it's continous with little pauses. The sound "pattern" is like a hard working old HDD with bad sectors making scratching sounds - if this helps something. It can be clearly heard from like 0.5 meter.

sounds like something is arcing in the psu. probable cause is a dry joint or some such. problem is its not generally user repairable so your probable only option will be to buy a new power brick.
if you know an electronics engineer it may be worth letting him have a look at it. it may work out cheaper than replacing the brick in the short term, but honestly 1s they start to go you will be chasing repairs over the next few months till it finally goes properly.
