I'm looking to take the plunge into the world of audio, the best pair of headphones I have being the Sony 7.1 Golds I bought with my PS4.
I'm looking at the DT990 Pros because of the bass and soundstage, and the fact that it's open.
The only problem I have is I don't know if the amp I have (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sony-TA-FE-370-Stereo-Integrated-Amplifier-/161922624164?hash=item25b3572aa4)
is sufficient to power the headset to maximum potential, and if it's enough, will I need a soundcard inside my computer for any reason (I have the default soundcard in Alienware Aurora R4, whatever it is).

Solution
The headphone amp in that integrated (you don't use the main amps with the headphone out) might not be enough for a 250 ohm headphone. No harm in trying it.
If you upgrade the soundcard in the PC you have the potential of feeding a higher quality signal to the amp but an outboard DAC and headphone amp might be a better investment.
