Windows 7 or Google Chrome planning/scheduling/calendar software/apps

I'm trying to find a free app for chrome, or desktop widget, or something with a calendar function, day to day planning and reminders. I work a lot and I go to school so it would be great to have additional reminders to help me. Free is the keyword.

I would think that if you googled "daily planner software" a ton of stuff will appear. Probably not the answer you are looking for, but the most obvious.

Doh, I use rainlender and didn't think to mention it because I use it solely as a calendar, not for the notes.
