Hey, I'm thinking of upgrading my laptop through three different ways (CPU, GPU and Ram), What do you think?
Here's the laptop's info:
Dell XPS 1502x
1) i5 2520M series (Sandy Bridge)
2) 2x4GB Ram DDR3 1333Mhz
3) NVidia GT 530 2GB
Windows 10 64
Here's how I'm going to upgrade each part:
1) Replace the current processor with a new Intel Core i7 3820 (3.60GHz, 10MB Cache, Socket 2011, 130W, Sandy Bridge)-I think this is compatible, but still unsure
2) Swap out the old Ram with Corsair 2x8GB 1333mhz ddr3 ram
3) Using this adaptor, replace my wifi's PCIe x1 slot with a pcie x16 slot (8GB/s) outside of the case, in which I will use a Palit JetStream GTX 770 4GB. Also using a external power source as it's outside the laptop caseing, maybe a 600W with a separate mini-pc case for the card and power. This will be connected to an external monitor to utilise the extra gaming power.
The point of doing this is to have more power and use the laptop for heavy-end gaming and development, eventhough it'll require 2 power inputs to function and will sacrifice the portability with the graphics card adaptor.
