Yamaha Receiver & Mbox don't play well

I have a Panasonic Plasma TV; Yamaha Receiver RX-V381 and an android box - MBOX - H96 Pro.
When I hook the box & tv together everything is good & works fine. When I add in the receiver - all I get is picture flashing - no sound, no picture, nothing other than flashing and then signal is lost!

I am totally baffled by this. I remove the newer MBOX - replace it with an older Android box - XGODY X96 and it all plays very well together - even the receiver. Since i used all the same cabling - I have ruled that out.

Anyone have ANY ideas for me?!?! The receiver isn't that old so I really have no desire to replace it. I have to be missing something, I am just not sure what.

Thanks

Make sure that the resolution of the box is set to match the native resolution of the TV. Maybe that is being reset incorrectly when the Mbox is connected to the receiver. HDMI can do that.
Do try a different HDMI cables and input on the TV. Just because it worked with another android box doesn't mean that it will work with this one. Each device and cable interact so if one or more part of the chain don't quite meet HDMI standards you run into problems. HDMI is tricky that way
Check that any video processing in the receiver is turned off.
