zen vision m,how do i load movies and dvd's on it

i just got the zen vision m and loaded some music and im happy with that but i want to put movies on it for the kids.i used dvd shrink to put copy of dvd on computer and when i try to transfer to the zen it says it file type not supported on my player.do i have to convert the file to something and if so what and how do i do it.thank you for helping
