Hey all,

I've wandered up and down the Best Buy TV isles oohing and ahhing at the LCDs but quickly came to realize that I haven't a clue what to look for. If anyone could recommend a good HD LCD for around $1200 I would really appreciate it.

I'll be using the TV to watch HDTV (obviously) but also would like to have the ability to hook up a HTPC in the future, plus all the other gadgets that we plug into TVs nowadays: XBox 360, DVD player, etc.

Thanks!

Also.

Would I be better served getting a DLP? I've seen a friends DLP and my biggest issue is that it has really poor viewing angles. Unless you're sitting directly infront of it, you can't see anything. Maybe it's just his model.

Stay away with DLP if you can.

Cons:
Expensive replacement bulb.
Lower Life of the bulb.
May not be properly calibrated.
Takes too much space unless you're talking about front projector.
And sometimes noisy due to the bulb cooler.

Pros:
Price.

Here’s how I feel about these.

Pioneer Elite, Sharp, and Panasonic - I would buy for myself.
Pioneer, LG, Philips, Samsung, Sony - I would give for gift to my family.
Toshiba, JVC and the rest - Recommend for someone I don't like. :)

Go with an LCD. I'd opt for an LG if I were you. I work at bestbuy and I never see LGs returned for service due to defects. Try to avoid toshiba's as well, I have seen quite a few of those back for service. They have just as good of image quality as samsungs too, and have a little less markup.
