4k HDR and Yamaha CX-A5100

I have a Yamaha CX-A5100 Preamp Receiver and it will not pass through HDR. If I go directly from my 4k Apple TV or my Oppo player to the TV I can HDR, but if I go through the Yamaha I cannot. I have the latest firmware version 2.11. Any suggestions?

You may need an HDMI adapter which is support HDR, and audio break out to your AVR.

Some Oppo players have two HDMI outputs and an HDMI input.
Connect the Apple TV to the HDMI input. Connect the main HDMI out to the TV. Connect the other one to the receiver. Set that one to audio only in the set up menu of the Oppo.
You could try an HDMI input selector with two outputs. Connect one output to the TV and the other to the receiver. It may work. Or something like this

The audio extraction feature would give you an audio connection for the Yamaha but won't pass lossless audio since that can only be carried via HDMI.
