I can't even think of a witty comment to make, it's that sad.

that's nothing special, nintendo's releasing a new firmware for the wii next year that enables 1080p output and blu-ray playback. that, and the 63% are mostly right, any 120hz tv is capable of outputting smooth 3D without glasses

I've never considered console owners technically inclined. I didn't start getting smart about computers until the PS3 came out. I had allllllll the consoles before that. All of them. I had no idea how anything worked. I put the game in, picked up the controller, and played.

I just went to the computer store and the guy infront of me wanted a pair of headphones (3.5mm plug). When he asked "Can these headphones make phone calls?" the store went extremely quiet... I think I just witnessed a console player.

It's true, a firmware upgrade CAN make any TV display 3D stereoscopic images. Those 63% are right. On TV's that don't have support for those types of images you will just see a blurry mess and end up with a migraine.

This is just my experience but console users fall into two groups: Group 1: Morons that cant tell you anything about a computer
Group 2: Relatively knowledge people that cannot afford a high performance desktop

Unfortunately most console users fall under group 1. And yes there is an extremely small percentage of people that fall into neither

here is a question that i have. and no im not the most knowledgeable guy when it comes to tv tech

a crt monitor is capable of 3d if it is 100hz or more.
a lcd is capable at 120hz or more.

now, a 3d ready lcd has a thing for the active shutter glasses built in, can any lcd tv or monitor display 3d with an active shutter dongle thing? like what nvidia vision thing does?

also why are we forced to have 120hz? cant 60 hz to it too? sure it would be eye killers, but still it would give 60hz people a reason to go for the 120hz if they find out they enjoy 3d (before the pain sets in)

now if im right, movies display film at 24 frames a second, that would
60hz is 60fps, so devideing that up its 30fps per eye, which is higher than movie theater 3d.

this all hinges on if im correct.

Not sure where you get that idea. A console gamer yourself perhaps?
There are 4 3D technologies today that can be used to display 3D video: active sync (requires hardware for the sync signal to the glasses); polarizing - requires additional screen layers as well as passive polarized glasses; the classic anaglyph trick - requires cheap red and blue glasses; and finally the parallax glassless technology that also requires special layer in the screen itself. All of them require either hardware modification (except for anaglyph) or glasses (except for parallax). Note the anaglyph method requires modifying the original video as well - applying red and blue filters to the two streams. Now, quite apart from all the display considerations, pre-3D displays utilizing HDMI 1.3 and earlier cannot accept 120Hz input signal (at 1080p) - the spec is limited to 60Hz.
