Activesync not working properly

The only way I can get Activesync to work is to reboot the device before
every time I place it in the cradle. Otherwise, the PC makes the device
connect sound but Activesync stays inactive. This is really annoying.

This problem started after I installed 3.8 so I uninstalled that and
reinstalled 3.7, but the problem remains.

Any ideas?

Do you have any anti virus programs running? If so try active sync
with them disabled

Thanks Jeff, but no anti-virus or similar software is running as the PC
in question does not connect to the internet.

Hi,
Do you have a software firewall installed? It can prevent ActiveSync from
connecting like you described.

Hi Chris,
No. The PC in question does not connect to the internet (it's running
Windows XP so I'd never let it connect to the net) so no software
firewall, antivirus or anything like that.

I just posted the question of how to setup the VPN network on my ppc, since
I was having the same problem with ActiveSync, I did the same steps you
did, in my case the problem was with the cradle's connection I pulled the
USB cables out cleaned them and reconnect, it seems that the connector from
the cradle is getting wear and tear. and just needed to be clean (I hope!)
although it was doing the same sound when I placed the device on the cradle
but it wasn't connecting properly....HTH
