I am looking to buy a new laptop(big screen around 17inches) for everyday tasks and medium-heavy gaming(like Call of Duty and Battlefield). Should I go for AMD APU or Intel for better performance?

Should I go for AMD Quad-Core A10-5750M Accelerated Processor with AMD Radeon™ HD 8650G or Intel i7 with some Nvidia Graphic card?

These are the two laptops I sorted out -

and

I have not finalized yet so I am looking for more options in the same budget $600-$800.

And do AMD processors have overheating issues?

I suggest you go with the HP Pavilion one, as it has dual graphics and serve your purpose of gaming. But i seriously recommend that don't buy laptops for gaming, but i you also require laptop for other purposes so HP one will be fine.

toshiba shouldnt be an option as it doesnt have deticated graphics memory since an apu which will result in poor performance,
dual graphics of the HP will suffer from microstuttering but will provide better performance. you can check it here AMD Radeon HD 8650G and here AMD Radeon HD 8650G + HD 8670M Dual Graphics .ultimatly i would stick with that HP cause you will hardly find any intel core i/ nvidia combo 17.3 ich at such price!

Thank you for your answer.
But is AMD A10 a good processor? I mean I never used an AMD processor and do they overheat?(as I read on some sites that AMD has some heating issues)
Will the dual graphics of HP drain the battery quickly?

A10 is fine, not awesome not bad but in the middle. No, amd processors are fine and not that bad to be honest and most of the guys here or most of the people i know have amd processors like FX series, Athalon series and many like that, and yes every laptop processor heat due to their small fan but you have bear it, than i have seen nice laptops which doesn't heat at all. you can HP laptop fine for 3 hours straight not doing anything heavy like playing games.

A10 as said is middleclass cpu. on laptops cooling capacity differs.larger laptops tend to have more sufficient cooling and the hp since 17.3 will be just fine.dual graphics will drain more power only while gaming, since both will be utilized. gaming on battery isnt adviced on any laptop though, only plugged up will any laptop offer its peak performance! intel cpu are more powerful per core, but this specific HP implementation is a great deal at that money!

Thank you.

How good is this laptop- http://www.toshiba.com/us/computers/laptops/satellite/P70/P70-ABT3G22

4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-4200M
8GB DDR3L 1600MHz (4GB + 4GB)
2GB GDDR3 NVIDIA ® GeForce® GT 740M with Optimus™ Technology

Will i5 and 8gb ram be good enough ?

that would be a better performer core i5 + gt740 will play games better! 8gb is more than enough for gaming. i also suggest the 750gb since 1tb is also at 5400rpm to save a bit more money. later on, you can add an ssd and really boost performance.! still for 650$ the hp offers good performance.its your choise, if you have 830$, will be well spent!
