Asus laptop lag spikes

Playing overwatch, fornite or WoT everything seems alright getting 50-60fps and after a while the fps just drops to 10 for like 15 seconds and it keeps happening over and over. does that mean my cpu is overheating or what? help

Potentially. Are you monitoring temps (CPU/GPU)?

If not, start. Something like HWMonitor can do this for you: https/www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

Without knowing what temps you're seeing, it's impossible to say for sure - but frame drops like that could definitely be indicating a temp problem.

you can check this out, it's after i already played the game and the lag spike happened

im thinking maybe when my cpu reaches 80c it automaticly starts to cool down ?

Doesn't appear to be heat*, but you are hitting 100% CPU utilization, which, sustained, could also cause frame drops.

What does you RAM/GPU utilization look like?

*CPU is definitely on the warm side, but shouldn't be throttling temps for most laptops.

Which laptop do you have specifically?

i bought it with 4gb memory and planning to add 4 or 8 more because that way it is cheaper.
Maybe my 4gb memory is the issue ?

i-5 7200u 3.1ghz
nvidia 940mx 2gb

Possibly. Take a look at HWMonitor under "Memory" and "GPU" utilization.

If your RAM is maxed out at 100% utilization (I would expect it to be on most modern games), then it would also cause frame drops.
