asus laptop not booting, can't go into bios

found my dads old laptop that stopped working a few years ago. booted it up and something has deleted some crucial windows file, so i decided to reinstall windows, plugged in my usb stick (which is bootable) went into bios, changed the boot drive order and boom, didn't boot the usb stick nor could i access the bios anymore. any ideas? the model is ASUS K35U. thanks

oh and heres some more details, the laptop seems to go full power and gets stuck on the asus logo screen. i have let it be like that for about half an hour and nothing happened.
