Asus U56E power jack trouble shooting

I'm getting the correct voltage to the power jack but laptop is dead with or without the battery installed. The charger puts out the correct voltage. Can I plug the charger into the jack when still installed on the mother board to check the power output on the motherboard side? I don't know if this could damage the board. What continuity check can I do on the installed jack? Any help is much appreciated!

Hi, sure you can verify the voltage on the power jack to see if you have the right voltage on the motherboard.
