Solved! Audio troubles

Hello,
I have my lap top hooked up to my Denon AVR-689 via HDMI and a head phone jack that splits into two RCA's. I can get the audio from system sounds to play through my surround sound speakers, but any audio from a media player, for example if I watch a video on you tube, will only play through my tv speakers and not my surround sound. So it seems like some setting that I need to change but I am not sure what setting that would be?

What operating system do you have installed on your laptop?

You should be able to change the default audio device from HDMI to analog in Control Panel.
