So I want to get a media player/burner software for christmas but I don't know what to ask for. I mainly want a good one because I have a blu-ray burner/player that I haven't been able to use because it came only with trial software and now is unable to burn/play blu-rays any more unless I buy the software.

So, I need the media player to be able to play blu-rays and burn blu-ray discs as well. Any thoughts? I hear Nero is good but which one?

Thanks!

Solution
I own Nero HD , Power DVD Ultra , and WinDVD Pro all which play blu-rays:

1-Nero HD
2-Corel WinDVD Pro
3-PowerDVD Ultra

Here is how i rank them in performance for blu-ray playback ^

Imgburn is #1 nothing compares for burning your media

Imgburn is FREE but nothing compares
U can use .....

CDBurnerXP @ http://www.filehippo.com/download_cdburnerxp/
CDBurnerXP is a free application to burn CDs and DVDs, including Blu-Ray and HD-DVDs. It also includes the feature to burn and create ISOs, as well as...

ImgBurn 2.5.6.0 @ http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/
ImgBurn is a lightweight CD / DVD / HD DVD / Blu-ray burning application that everyone should have in their toolkit!

Those are free I see. Do you lose anything with those compared to using something like Nero?

I was looking at Nero Platinum 11:

How does that compare? What would I be losing if I got just normal Nero HD?

Thanks!

I agree with Area51reopened ^^^, and if u are not sure, u can always try the Nero suite, before the purchase riccardi50 : )

I used Nero for burning only in the distant past, had no issues with it.

It was OEM licence, that came with the DVD drive.

What's the difference between Nero 11 Platinum and their suite?

I like the idea of the platinum because it has a blu-ray media player as well as I can edit video that I have recorded in a lot of different formats. It just seemed like a good all around media player/editing tool.

Your thoughts?
