Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a true 7.1 dolby digital headset for my pc. I am a VERY heavy gamer, so I need a good comfortable headset that also has a crystal clear mic. I would also like it packed full of features like a inline volume/chat control, and a sturdy design that will last for a LONG time. I currently have the astro a40's but the left mic input side distorts the mic for some reason, and it just isn't that good; and i don't feel like i am getting the best experience I can get out of a headset.
Thanks in advance, I appreciate the help!
p.s let me know if I need a sound card to get true 7.1 audio
Thanks Again!

Hi,

1) I've tried lots of headphones and I just can't tell the difference in terms of 3D between stereo and "7.1" headphones. By the latter I mean ones with multiple hardware drivers for each ear.

I prefer a quality STEREO set of headphones overall as they tend to have more BASS as well by having a single larger driver.

2) Many headphones use USB and have their own sound solution instead of a sound card.

I'm uncertain, but there MAY be some headphones that convert surround to stereo which may be better than having multiple drivers per ear.

3) I'm no expert but you may find THIS useful as a starting point:

*I recommend getting out a piece of paper and writing down all the headphones as you find them so you can compare them later, as well as confirm all your requirements are met.

You may also want to consider whether you'd want to use them on a CONSOLE as well though that may involve an extra converter box so can add to the price.
