Hi all,
I'm having this problem on my laptop from quite some time with this so any help would be greatly appreciated, and will try to explain everything I tried on this as I already tried many things in different threads. My system is,
HP G42 363tx
Core i3 370M
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470
4GB Ram
The laptop is around 4 years old and I used it mainly for studies and for some gaming too. The laptop started overheating before like a year or so and I reapplied ArcticSilver thermal paste and cleaned it well, it was working well since no overheating issues and all. After around 6 months the system started to crash and "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error came. But I continued working as it did not bother me a lot. I did a driver update using windows (because the HP site did not offer the newest driver) then the error became more frequent and the BSOD started coming and finally the system died. No screen when switched on, but the external screen (VGA port) was working but not with good resoulution and all only lowest resolution and dotted lines were all over the external screen (artifacts).
Then I uninstalled the ATI driver and the laptop screen started working, then I installed the drivers provided by HP, then the laptop screen started working with good resolution and everything, no artifacts but I still got the "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" error and BSOD then I tried this method http
/ which was sujjested by KAIJER. Now the error coming rate and BSOD is not that frequent but still they do come. And sometimes when I switch on the laptop the built in screen does not come, but when I turn it off and on again sometimes it does come. but always the external monitor comes on (with or without the built in monitor).
Any help would be greatly appreciated
