Solved! can HDMI 1.4 on 120hz laptop get 144hz refresh rate on external monitor

Hi, here is my laptop specs:

MSI GE 63 RAIDER

i7 8750H
GTX 1070
16GB RAM

Mini DP (i dunno what version is)
HDMI (i think its 1.4 because my VGA is GTX 10 Series)

i will choose Lenovo G25 10 or Asus VP249QGR

i would ask if its possible to get 144hz refresh rate on external monitor from 120hz laptop? and what the port that i should choose? and are there any performance issues?

You'd be better off with Displayport. That model has a mini displayport so just get a mini displayport to displayport cable. Using DP would allow you to use Gsync.
