Solved! Can I add a microphone to a car stereo

The car stereo I bought has an internal microphone (it's really bad) and I was looking to upgrade to an external car mic. The only problem is there is no input on the back of the stereo for an external mic. I have already taken apart the stereo and see where the internal mic is soldered to the board. The question is can I cut the internal mic off and solder my external mic in without breaking anything? PS I will use my multimeter to identify which wire to solder to the board

The answer to this is "Maybe". Only way to know is to try it.

The impedance and output of the external mic would have to be at least similar to the original one. I would desolder the internal mic so I could reinstall it if the new one doesn't work properly.
