cant hear a sound my laptop's speakers or even with a headphone though its obvious the sound is playing. the volume control is high and after troubleshooting, the device is working properly. cant figure out the problem

Post the laptop model next time! Does it have an hdmi port? Then right click on the volume icon in task bar, goto playback devices and switch the standard device from hdmi to speaker.
