connect computer monitor to old A/V receiver for video only output

Solution
Thanks . That's what I thought. Just needed to access receiver's OSD for setup. I wound up plugging the monitor out (RCA) to composite video in on my home theater system and did setup on theater display. It worked.
You would need a component video to HDMI active converter. You can't use a passive cable to do this even though you will see them.
If your sources have HDMI outputs then connecting them to the monitor directly will give you a much much better picture. Connect the audio output of the TV or each source to the receiver for audio only.
