convenience outlet at back of Samsung Cable Box

I just replaced an old Scientific Atlanta cable box with a new Samsung SMT-C5320. All my issues have been solved, however,
I had the flat screen and audio amp running out of the convenience outlet so they shut off when the cable box did.
The new Samsung outlet is power on even when the cable box is off. I didn't see a toggle in the setup that would allow this to only be powered when the cable box is on. Is there anyway to do this or do I have to "modify" ?

The outlet on the Samsung is probably hard wired to the power cord. It's known as an unswitched outlet. I think you will have to modify.

Since your cable box is owned by your cable provider modifying the box would not be a great idea or simple to do, Something like this

would be easier.
Or get a Logitech Harmony remote that would turn on the all the gear with an IR macro. It's better to leave the TV and audio system in standby rather than unplugged from power the way you did it before.
