I have recently bought a second hand Coolscan IVED as I have an awful lot of slides and film. Never having used this tech before, I am experimenting. But..how do I create a folder? in which to save the scanned images? I guess I would mostly want to use JPEG. I'm not too computer savvy, so would appreciate any advice.

Thanks John

If you are using Windows 7 you should see and option to create a new folder on the toolbar at the top in Windows Explorer. Another option is to right click, click on New and then click on Folder. You can create a new folder on your desktop or in Windows Explorer and save the scanned files there.
Video on how to create a folder on the desktop - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFN4BlgrQ2I - you would follow the same steps to create a folder in Windows Explorer (the folder icon on the bottom of your desktop near the Start button if you are using Windows 7)

What kind of computer do you have? Windows? Mac? Linux?
Download Picasa from Google, you can use it both for scanning and organising. Another (paid) option is Photoshop Elements. You can it use also to touch up your scans.

Finally - check Nikon site for drivers and utilitiies for your scanner, although (being released in 2001) you might have troubles finding drivers for anything but Windows XP.
