does microsoft security essentials have a firewll

im using a win 7 home basic sp1 and i was wondering if windows security essentials provide internet security

any article regarding what it provides would be great

Security Essentials utilizes Window's built-in firewall.

When you open Control Panel, you can find two things related to your question: Windows Defender and Windows Firewall. When you installed Microsoft Security Essentials, it will by default disable Windows Defender, but will work along with Windows Firewall.

If you buy the full package XXX-brand Internet Security Suite, they will use their Firewall and advise you to turn of Windows Firewall.
