this my first question here, i opened cmd with notepad to see binary code, but now everytime i open something it opens with notepad, system restore does, and i tried regedid but nothing worked, what should i do

two solutions to this problem, depending on how computer savvy you are.

1) the easiest way would be to download the exe file extension registry fix from this site http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/19449-default-file-type-associations-restore.html then merge it with your registry. just right click the download and chose merge. then reboot your system. should fix the problem.

2) If you don't trust that web site or have issues running that fix you can manually fix this with the registry editor, but you'll need to...

right click on the file that is opening with notepad and go down to properties. In the general tab press "change" next to the 'open with'. Select the application you would like the file to open with by default.

(no other way will work to open the registry editor when you break the exe file extension association
