two solutions to this problem, depending on how computer savvy you are.
right click on the file that is opening with notepad and go down to properties. In the general tab press "change" next to the 'open with'. Select the application you would like the file to open with by default.

2) If you don't trust that web site or have issues running that fix you can manually fix this with the registry editor, but you'll need to boot into windows in safe mode with command prompt to do it. (no other way will work to open the registry editor when you break the exe file extension association
