Forgotten Google Password and alternate email account closed

MY friend just decided that he wants to start using his Nexus 7 again but he has no idea what his Google password is. His alternate email account has been closed and he can't remember his password. Is there an alternate way for him to recover his password? Thanks.

Google has an alternative password reset method, which relies on things like when you opened the account IIRC: https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery/

We can't help beyond that, as we have no way to ensure it's not stolen property.
