Frequent soft-resets and occasional hard-reset ones too :-(

Hi. I'm having a problem with the ipaq 2210 (it has PPC 2003). It
frequently soft-resets without me doing so, and occasionally it
hard-resets leading to loss of everything. Soft-resets I would say
happen daily, often more than once daily, even more than twice, and
hard-resets happen every few weeks or sometimes more often.

Is this something to be expected and lived with? or is there something
I should be doing to correct it? should I be looking into something
like that pocket mechanic application?

Other than that it's working fine. I now backup daily to an SD card
and also backup to the computer every time I activesync. I also store
my documents, excel and word, to the SD card so I don't lose them, but
with the disadvantage that they don't activesync with the computer.

Is there a way for my documents that are stored on the SD to be
activesynced with the computer so I can work on them on the desktop
without having to move all into and out of SD card or leaving my ipaq
connected (and yes, other than a card reader, I guess what i'm asking
for is an SD activesync solution or something like that)?

Alternatively, is there a backup solution that would allow me to
backup documents from the my document folder on the PPC to the SD card
as they are modified rather than daily?

thanks.

Absolutely not.

What I would do in your case:

Backup.

Hard reset.

Install NOTHING.

Run the device for a day or two. If no user-initiated
soft resets occur, it's probably one of your installed apps
that's causing it. Install them one at a time, using the device
for a time between each, until you find it. I know this is
a PITA, but it works.

If it's still misbehaving, remove the SD card and try again.

If, it's STILL soft resetting itself, it's time for a trip
to the repair shop.

I'm sure there is, but you should check out your PPC
for hardware issues first...

I think the Sprite backup would work.

If the machine is new you could use your guarantee, but if you have third
party applications make sure they aren't causing the problems. Try running
the machine with standard applications only, and no memory card to see if it
is a machine fault. If the problem goes away like this you'll need to
investigate your applications individually and memory card individually to
try and identify the cause.
Remember that adding or removing programs regularly may cause these problems
so leave the machine settled for a while too.
