HDMI Female to VGA Male Converter with audio

Hi I bought a HDMI cable so I can watch some movies and stuff but I found out my old laptop does not have a hdmi port so I was trying to find an adapter and I found this

So do I need the Audio Port? Or the sound is with the HDMI cable because I would have to buy another like 5 meters of Audio cable.

I think that it will not work (VGA out, not HDMI).

Alex has it, the ebay device splits up an hdmi signal, you want to merge it.

Or just check if your TV has VGA inputs, many HD sets do.

to go from vga to hdmi/ dvi-d or display port you need a active adaptor cause vga is analog only and the rest are digital only

if you got dvi-I it carries both amalog and digital and a cheap simple converter works fine
