HDMI to VGA or HDMI to Component

I'm using a Digital Video Insertion unit that only accepts VGA or component. The source I need to use outputs only in HDMI. There are adapters for both HDMI-VGA and HDMI-Component. I'm wondering which would be better to use or if there is no difference.

I'm not sure if either of these would require changing the settings on the insertion device. It's a DVISm model from ATX.

Since you won't avoid the digital to analog conversion for either I would go with the VGA. It can handle a higher resolution than component video.

either will likely work fine..... since you are coming from hdmi which typically restricts which resolutions are supported, the wider range VGA may not be of use and it might even hamper your setup depending on how well the conversion is implemented.
