Hi the disk died in this laptop. I have pulled down win 7 64 bit iso and loaded it to bootable usb stick but after boot it complains about usb video driver missing. I have downloaded every Acer driver I thought might help : it complains driver missing & I pount to a 2nd usb stixch with all the Acer drivers on it but it just reports the same message

A required CD/DVD driver is missing

The computer has neither device ; Can some one please advise the size ver info foer a suitable driver and where it should be located on the boot media ?

thanks Trev

I think I grabbed everything & oil explain what I did in case i was silly /mistaken. I pulled down all the drivers then unzipped them into their driver_named_folder then put them on a 2nd usb stick then when the install asked for drivers I located the 2nd 'drive' and pointed to every individual folder in turn nothing worked. Then I coped the complete file of drivers to the same usb stick as I had booted from / rebooted but when looking at it ; it could not see the folder of drivers I had just added to the boot drive/stick .

Do you use the latest windows 7 service pack1 install media created by the Microsoft media creation tool?

Don´t use the USB 3.0 (blue) port on the right, because windows 7 doesn´t know about USB 3.0. Use a USB2.0 port of your Acer instead. These can be found on the left side of your laptop.

You could implement the USB3 driver in the win7 iso like this too:

I am very impressed ; what a simple tip and what a result :

Don´t use the USB 3.0 (blue) port on the right

I work on mainframes ; have done since ~ 1991

Never have I had to check the colour of some hardware to determine a feature or lack there of

This is brilliant ; problem solved : cannot thankyou enough
