how do i get my sd card to read on my mtn steppa tablet?please assist

i bought an mtn steppa tablet and my memory card never read on it so i decided to buy a new sd card and it still says insufficient space on my device.

please assist

The space error may not be because the card is not read but you are just saving things to the wrong spot. What are you trying to do that gives the error? Keep in mind that programs you install may not be able to run off the card, but you can easily move your pictures and other media files to it.

i wasnt even able to move things to my sd card but i reset my whole tablet and im now able to download apps.
