how do I hard reset my toshiba satelite C55-B5100?

My Toshiba turns on, but goes to a black screen with the message of "reboot and select proper boot devices" is there a way to hard reset the laptop without loosing EVERYTHING on my computer?

A reset won't resolve that. It sounds like either the order was changed in BIOS or the hard drive/HDD is failing.
