I know ptx files are a native file extension for Avid Tools Pro. But I wanted to know if there is some free or free trial software that can convert this file type into a pdf or make it so it can be viewed in like a notepad or Microsoft word app?
just be sure to install it but don't install the pdf architect or any adds or extras, you downloaded it just to have a virtual pdf printer that will create a pdf on your home documents or desktop, don't remember where it puts the resulting pdf
One of the utilities that acts as a print driver to output a PDF file might work as long as whatever you are using to view the ptx file has a print option.
Search for "print to pdf". Most, if not all, of them have a free version you can download.

If you have windows 10 then you can use Microsoft Print to PDF option to convert you files into PDF. All the windows 10 applications with Print option have the ability to convert files into PDF.
