how to take .jpg format off a picture on android

I have ab app that added the .jpg file extension name on to the end of the picture name. I understand you cannot simply take it off but you can hid it somehow. I have an optimus g and was wondering how to get to the settings bar to hide the file extension. Thanks.

It's in Control Panel, Folder Options. Select "Hide file extensions for known file types"

Keep in mind that it is always better to see the file extensions. This way you know when you see an .exe file which could possibly be a virus. I recently added the show file extension feature just for this purpose.

There are too many viruses hiding under fake file names with the .exe file extension hidden.
