hp 2000 laptop won't turn on

Was working on AC power last night...battery wasn't charging....new battery...then, poof, nothing....can't get it to boot up..

Does it work without the new battery? And could you please insert some photos? Right now it could be many problems with the explanation you have given. Thanks ~
