My laptop came with Dell Audio that allowed me to select what type of audio device I was using when it was plugged into the jack.

When I re-installed my audio drivers the Dell Audio program disappeared and now it is a problem because when I plug my HyperX Cloud Headset into my computer, there is no way to change the default microphone and it automatically uses the built-in microphone.

How can I activate my headset microphone? There is nothing that pops up in the recording devices under sound and there are no hidden or disabled microphones.

Hi,

Here are some troubleshooting steps that may help in solving the issue.
- Start by uninstalling/reinstalling the Sound driver.
- Go to Device Manager and uninstall the Sound driver.
- Once done, download and install the latest driver from Dell.
- Here's the link: http://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER01745539M/1/5460_Audio_Driver_HCMKP_WN_6.10.0.6426_A00.EXE
- Reboot your laptop once the latest driver has been installed.
- After the reboot right click on your speaker icon and select Recording Devices.
- Once open, check if your headset is listed and right click on it and select Set Default.
- If all these will not work run System Restore, restore it to an earlier date or time before the problem even happened.
